Solar Atomic Watches

My Casio G Shock Experience

I never thought a watch, especially not a digital watch could cause such an experience. I was sitting at an outside table of my favorite coffee shop in Anchorage, Alaska. Side note: If you ever get up there, make sure to a Kaladi’s coffee. You will never want a Starbucks Coffee again. Anyway, I was sitting outside and it was roughly 7 PM with the sun still high up (yes, it was summer time). Apparently my Casio G-Shock was reflecting the sun and by accident (I swear) bothering a young woman. I was reading the newspaper when she approached my about the watch.

But instead of complaining or asking me if I could change the way how I was holding my arm/wrist she asked me if it was a solar powered watch. She explained further that she always had problems with her cheap solar powered watch when the long Alaskan Winter hit. She had to have a second, battery powered watch just to make it through Winter. I was totally caught off guard. Her question turned into a long, very friendly discussion. It was a fun experience and all of it caused by my Casio G Shock Solar powered Atomic watch. Can your watch do the same?

Just in case you want to know – yes, Jenny and I are good friends. Friends that is, not lovers. ;-)
